Kenya: Lake Turkana Map

This area in the north of Kenya is dominated by Lake Turkana. The jade green of the water contrasts starkly with the barren landscape and surrounding extinct volcanoes. It is an area steeped in prehistoric history, where ancient fossils have been found. Also dramatic is the verdant canyon of South Horr.

To the east is Marsabit, where you can stock up on provisions and petrol, and Marsabit National Park and Reserve, one of Kenya's most remote and least visited reserves. If you are in the area and keen on game fishing, head towards Fergusons Gulf which is famed for its prolific birdlife, large crocodiles and game fishing for Nile perch and tiger fish.
